1) Facebook made the decision to buy Instagram for $1 billion because it was a way to eliminate competition and widen their income, allowing them to make money from both Instagram and Facebook. 2) The benefits for media companies using vertical integration is that they get to make more money through every stage of production because they own film distributors, TV channels (e.g. Disney Channel) and even film studios and so much more.   Essay question:   “The internet has given audiences much more power than ever before.” To what extent do you agree with this statement? I agree with this statement to a fair point because audiences now can express what they feel about something posted or said in the media. This could be something positive or negative and could affect how someone feels about something. Furthermore, audiences can post something on a social media platform e.g Twitter which might not necessarily be true ('Fake News'), and use that misinformation to cause harm to someone for reasons such as jealousy.
