Strong effort on Q4- lots of solid ideas on gender representations in video games that you tackle


Still some work needed on the other two 20 mark Qs. For Q2 you could have brought up other issues that teenagers have faced in both CSPs with more media theory.

For Q5, this is a synoptic. You need to bring in any other relevant CSPs that could link to the question

3) Use the mark scheme for this assessment to identify three points you could have made in any of the questions in Section A (Television). Look for the indicative content in the mark scheme - these are the suggested answers from AQA. (Note: the mark scheme for Question 5 has changed as the CSPs have been updated since this exam paper was first published).

 1. This together with the fantasy element, is developed in a main scene in the extract set in the medieval citadel when the king’s helper tries and fails to give Corakinus control of the heart. Success would mean April’s death. Charlie clearly has a different/parallel plotline.

2. A series of enigmas are posed in the pre-title sequence, many of which will span the lifetime of the series and will engage the audience as they get narrative pleasure

3.Susan is a lone teenager in an adult world; she is less prominent in the story than her teachers and her grandfather and does not have the power to assert her own will.




4) There are three 20-mark essay questions in Media Paper 2. What will you do to improve your performance in the 20-mark essays in the March PPEs? 

Re-read the question mid way during my answer to assert and vividly portray what the question is asking. 

Practice more questions and better my speed during the question




5) Question 5 is a synoptic question that requires you to refer to other CSPs from the whole GCSE Media course. What other CSPs could you have used for this Question 5 on whether media products are just created to make money?

Magazines: Exam question blog assessment - UNFINISHED

  1) What is a convention of a magazine cover? Give an example from   Tatler .  [2 marks] A convention of a magazine cover s what makes the magazine what it is. Examples are: 1. Title of publication – placed in the top third so that it is easily visible, particularly when stacked with other magazines in limited shelf space. 2. Slogan – a short, catchy statement or phrase, intended to ‘sum-up’ the magazine’s image and to stick in the reader’s mind.  4. ‘Flash’ / Cover Line / Sell Line – Text placed around the image telling the reader what is going to be in the magazine (stories).  5. Free offer – magazines sometimes come with small gifts or product ‘promotions’ attached. To be effective, these gifts or offers need to be closely targeted at the magazine’s core consumers (target audience). 6. Colour scheme – in order to avoid a cover becoming too ‘busy’ and therefore difficult to ‘decode’, designers tend to stick to a limited colour scheme. Certain colours are generally felt to work well
